Brittney Crum – 40 Under 40

Age: 32
Kids: 1.5
Occupation: Director of Membership for Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club
My grand goal in life: Is to be a genuinely good person. I want to make a difference in the lives of those who I come in contact with, no matter how brief the interaction. I want to know I put a smile on someone’s face and made a positive impact on their life. I also want to make sure I’m reaching my full potential in being the best wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.
When not working, I: Enjoy spending time with my family, especially my husband Derek and my son Tristan; I have been so blessed with a very loving and supportive family! I’m also a true crime and game show junkie so most nights you will find me on the couch with my hand in a bag of Angie’s Boom Chicka Pop Sweet & Salty Kettle Corn and watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and every rerun of Dateline under the sun. In my opinion, that’s an evening well spent.
What I like most about living in Ocala: I love the small town feel and the friendliness of everyone! Being from a small town in PA originally, it was important to us to plant our roots somewhere that felt like home and Ocala does just that for us. The growth over the past few years has been expediential which is great, but I love that Ocala has kept that small town charm feel! And I love running into familiar and friendly faces around town!
My biggest pet peeve: This is TOUGH! It’s definitely a toss-up between people who don’t use their blinkers (aka turn signals) or people who drive in the passing lane on 75 doing below the speed limit. I promise I don’t have road rage, though!
One word that summarizes my philosophy of life: Growth
My greatest strength is: My personality. People tell me I could talk to a brick wall and enjoy myself… and honestly that’s probably true because it wouldn’t talk back to me, and I’d always be right! Or I guess I should say my bad dad jokes? In all seriousness though, I love meeting new people and learning about them and their story and what makes them unique, and I think having a personable persona helps people feel comfortable and open up to me.
If you could have a superhuman power, it would be: Also a tough one, but I think time travel. I would love to go back to the olden days and see and experience what life was like back then. I think that would help to see our daily lives with a little more gratitude, and I also think you could meet some pretty cool and influential people!
Community cause nearest my heart: My church community! Shout out Church @ the Springs!
A guilty pleasure of mine: Isn’t everyone’s answer to this question dark chocolate?
People who know me say I am: Depends on who you ask – JK! I’d say the majority of them would tell you I’m funny and outgoing.
Personal achievement for which I am most proud: Landing my dream role here at Golden Ocala. I spent a lot of my life questioning and doubting my abilities and my strengths, but being here, I’m able to utilize them and I have seen a difference already in the short time I’ve been here. I’m excited about the future here and continuing to make the club the best for our members!
Favorite part of my profession: Definitely the environment and the team I’m surrounded by! There’s something to be said for having outstanding people support you and have your back in even the smallest of daily decisions but knowing they believe in me and we’re all working to accomplish the same goal truly makes working here the best!
If there is one thing I indulge too much in: I won’t lie, scrolling on TikTok – but hey, I get some of the best recipes from there!
Top three things on my bucket list: Travel the world, try new things, no more tattoos!
