What is your word and why did you chose it? The word I selected is ‘mindful.’ There have been some major changes in the world and most of them are out of our individual control. To be mindful is to focus your attention on the present moment and accepting it without judgment. Adopting a practice of mindfulness can be extremely helpful for navigating our emotions and has the potential to improve physical health, mental health, and overall well-being.
What aspirations do you have for yourself in the next 40 years? My practice, Cocoon Chiropractic, specializes in prenatal, postpartum and pediatric care. My dream is to expand into a larger wellness collective that houses other specialties such as midwives, acupuncturists, physical therapists, massage therapists, nutritionists, and yoga all under one roof! I also hope to start my own family and spend time traveling to new places.
Favorite way to give back to the community? To be a doctor means to be a teacher. I am passionate about educating my patients and community so they are empowered when it comes to how they care for themselves and for their families.
What do you love and/or hate about the Ocala area? The thing I love about Ocala is the pace of life. When I am there it feels much easier to slow down and enjoy time with my loved ones.
A few albums and movies you’d bring to a deserted island? Sometimes you just need classic chick flicks, so I would bring “Mean Girls” and “Bridesmaids.” For albums, I would bring every edition of Now That’s What I Call Music. That should keep me entertained for a while.
You never leave home without: My water bottle! I carry it around with me everywhere I go.
If you could tell your 16-year-old self one thing: Be adaptable. Life does not always go according to plan. Anticipate the challenges and learn how to respond to them well.
Anything else you’re super passionate about that you’d like to tout: Your body has an innate intelligence that is designed to heal. Do not underestimate it!
