On Saturday, May 18, 2013 we will come together as a nation in honor of Armed Forces Day. It is the single day celebration designated from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense as announced 64 years ago on Aug. 31, 1949, by Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson to replace separate Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps Days.
President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country. On behalf of Ocala/Marion County, our team at OCALA MAGAZINE would like to do the same with these profiles of some of our servicemen who brave it all for our freedom. To all our troops here and everywhere, we thank you for your service.
