Honey, tonight on the way home, pick us up some Crazy Flats. I just called in the order. They’re open until 9pm tonight; 10pm on Saturday, and Sunday they are open at 11. Hurry, please. We’re hungry!”

Funny as it may seem, this is the conversation many will be having along the new SR200 corridor about Crazy Flats at Market Street (right next to Dick’s Sporting Goods).

Here, you are in charge. Customize your own flatbread (similar to a thin crust pizza, but healthier) or build a salad for a truly low carb alternative. Three sizes, all priced within reason, for all your needs in any such season – 6”, 10” or 16”. Crazy Flats also recognizes that there are those who have dietary restrictions and cannot tolerate the protein mixture found in wheat and other grains.

They offer a 10” specialized Gluten-Free Option, just for you! Their spinach and garden mix make for a crisp and refreshing salad bed, that also is gluten and guilt free, nutritious and a healthy alternative.

The sauces are very unique and taste authentically homemade. Tomato & Herb, Alfredo Roasted Garlic Aioli, BBQ Jerk, Buffalo Basil and a Garlic spread. My favorite is the cucumber sauce with a spectacular zing, that comes on their Greek’d Out (I added artichokes hearts. Yum!) There are 5 other crazy creations in case you’re not in the mood to invest time, self-indulgently. I ordered the Jamaican Luau to accompany my Greek’d Out. The Margherita and Buffalo Chicken & Bacon seemed tempting too. Hungry yet? I bet!

Meats you’d expect include grilled chicken, shaved ribeye, ground beef, pepperoni & ham, all served with veggies. I couldn’t believe my eyes. They have caramelized onions, roasted garlic, fresh basil, cilantro, roasted peppers and oregano too. Six cheese options include feta, blue cheese, mozzarella and traditional choices. A balsamic vinaigrette, olive oil and red wine vinegar, round off the dressing selections.

Salad anyone?

Special kid choices are only $3.95 and there are desserts too. Enjoy a Hershey Kiss Triple Chocolate or Red Velvet Cookies paired with a large scoop of Edy’s Ice Cream.

Did I mention beer and wine is available? Kick back on one of their two outdoor patios and enjoy music that is piped through outdoor speakers. The shaded tables add a cabana-style quality. Simply delightful!

The interior is bright and cheerful with a red & white checkerboard tile floor with a capacity for 50 guests.

Originally from Puerto Rico, Proprietor, Carlos Sanchez is a distinguished fellow – calm and confident. He opened Crazy Flats on January 15th, across from his sister store, The Crazy Cucumber.

Sanchez grew up with parents in the restaurant business, giving him knowledge and a great deal of comfort in this complicated industry. Moving to Ocala at age 12, starting as a dishwasher, you can say Sanchez has come a long way. The kitchen is beautiful, with state-of-the-art equipment and a professional, friendly staff. The location is convenient and parking-a-plenty. At lunch, speed is their virtue and they aim to have you in and out in as little as 20 minutes. I’ve sampled the food and the vibe is fine. Grab a flat and let yourself unwind! I won’t hesitate to grab my gang. They’ll go Crazy Flats!
