Some of your family’s best memories may be from a park, whether tubing, boating, walking, camping, fishing or picnicking.
The Marion County Board of County Commissioners, through the Parks and Recreation Department, is offering an opportunity to bring more family memories to our citizens and visitors by providing grant funds for recreation facilities.
Big Sun Youth Soccer President, Brian Behan reported, “The County’s Park Partnership program provided funding toward our new concession stand and indoor meeting room. We were able to complete our project without compromising quality or our player’s safety.”
For over 17 years, the Park Partnership Program has provided more than $961,000 to non-profit groups interested in developing or upgrading recreation facilities for use by all the citizens of Marion County.
A total of $60,000 is available through the program this year. Eligible facilities include parks, school sites and Municipal Service Taxing Units. Recipients will receive up to a 50 percent match in funding for their projects.
The Marion County Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting applications through July 31. Applications are available at www.marioncountyfl.org/Parks/Pr_default.aspx or you may stop by our Administrative Office, located at 111 SE 25 Avenue in Ocala.
