CENTRAL FLORIDA COMMUNITY ARTS ANNOUNCES ITS SPRING 2012 SEASON: ADULT ORCHESTRA/CHOIR AND CHILDREN/YOUTH CHOIR MEMBERS WANTED!
Central Florida Community Arts (CFCA) is proud to announce its upcoming Spring 2012 season and there is still time for singers and instrumentalists of all abilities to sign up for CFCA’s choirs and orchestra.
Central Florida Community Choir is a non-auditioned choir for participants age 18+. Singers can look forward to rehearsing songs from popular Broadway shows such as Les Miserables, Billy Elliott, Carousel, A Chorus Line, Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera and Jersey Boys. Members of Central Florida Community Orchestra, a non-auditioned entity for instrumentalists age 16+, should expect a compelling and exciting line up of repertoire and standards that is both inspirational and challenging, yet tailored to every musician regardless of musical background. CFCA is also proud to present the newest branch of their organization: Children and Youth Arts! This program is open to all students K5-12th grade and, like CFCA’s adult choir and orchestra, will be a non-auditioned entity. The different age groups will rehearse separately, culminating the season with a production of the Broadway musical, Annie Jr.
The Kick Off for this exciting season will occur on Monday, February 6th, at Grace Covenant Church, 1655 Peel Avenue, Orlando, 32806. The Children and Youth Arts program will begin at 6:00pm while the Adult Choir and Orchestra will start at 7:00pm. Rehearsals will continue weekly; Orchestra and Children/Youth Choir rehearsals will occur at Grace Covenant on Mondays and Adult Choir members can rehearse on their choice of Mondays (Grace Covenant), Tuesdays (St. Luke's Methodist Church, Dr. Phillips) or Thursdays (Hagerty Public High School, Oviedo). Spring concerts for all entities of CFCA are planned for May, 2012.
Central Florida Community Arts (CFCA) is the umbrella organization that currently includes the Central Florida Community Choir, the Central Florida Community Orchestra and their newly-introduced Children and Youth Arts programs. A tax-exempt 501(c)(3) entity, the philosophy of CFCA is that everyone who has a passion for the Musical Arts should have a platform on which to perform. The heartbeat of CFCA is to give back to the community and to do this, they partner with local non-profits to take a role in their respective organizations by performing at their fundraisers for the clients for which they serve. Future plans for the organization include a musical performance summer camp that will place an emphasis on underprivileged youths, as well as the introduction of a music studio for all aspiring performers.
