St. John Lutheran Adopts Ralph Russell Park

St. Johns Lutheran’s baseball team recently adopted Ralph Russell Park in November 2011 through the Department’s Adopt-A-Park program. The players and coaches will pick up trash and debris, paint and make permanent improvements to the park, where they have practiced and played their home games for the past four seasons.

“St. John Lutheran baseball is excited to partner with the Marion County Parks and Recreation Department through their Adopt-A-Park program to make sure our home field is clean, safe and beautiful,” stated proud parent Jeff Salamone.

Adopt-A-Park participants commit to a minimum of six park visits per year. In exchange, the Department provides an Adopt-A-Park shirt and sign posted at the park entrance recognizing the adopting individual or group.

During 2011, more than 300 volunteer hours were recorded through the program.
