The heat is rising and summer hasn’t even officially begun! Thinking of taking a dip in the water to refresh from all heat? If so, remember: Safety comes first.
“There have already been 37 drowning and 38 near-drowning incidents reported across the country” this year, Fox News reported recently. Be prepared for the summer by taking swim lessons at some of the local pools. The following organizations are among those offering swimming lessons in Marion County this summer:
* Central Florida Swim America offers classes for infants and adults from June through August. Register in advance. For more information, visit www.ocalaaquatics.com or contact Sue Schwerzel at 352-804-5438, or you can visit the Newton A. Perry Aquatic Center at the College of Central Florida, 3001 S.W. College Rd.
* Perry’s Swim School, located at 412 N.E. 17th Ave., also offers classes for infants and adults from June through October. For information and schedules, contact Delee Perry at 352-732-5540.
